This brooch features a sterling silver frame, with a flower and leaf motif surrounding a large domed amber cabuchon. There is a signed panel on the reverse, which reads: "Sterling Denmark N. E. From" The amber shows some surface scratches, common in a piece this age. Danish jeweller and silversmith Niels Erik From ( N.E. From) was born in 1908 and opened his first workshop in 1931 when he was still only twenty-three. He was an important figure in Danish design, and helped to shape Denmark’s Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movement.
